From September 2011 until January 2012, Berlin’s Neue Nationalgalerie presented the exhibition Taryn Simon. A Living Man Declared Dead and Other Chapters.

A Living Man Declared Dead and Other Chapters was realized over a period of four years. The artist Taryn Simon travelled around the world from 2008 to 2011 to research the bloodlines and the relationships linked to them and to record them. In each of the eighteen chapters of the work, other factors of influence like territorial claims, political power structures, class, and religious notions with psychological and physical factors.
