In 2016, the work of August Kopisch was presented for the first time ever in an exhibition. Like no other, the artist, born in Breslau in 1799, combined painting, poetry, translation, folklore collecting, research, and inventiveness in his work. As a painter, Kopisch created works of their very own poetic brilliance. Kopisch was also the discoverer of the Blue Grotto on Capri (1826) and the founder of the tourism there. He is also unforgotten as the creator of the poem “Die Heinzelmännchen.”
