Sticks and Stones, an Intervention

Film on the exhibition

With 144 impressive tree trunks, British architect David Chipperfield (b. in 1953) transformed the museum’s open glass hall in the fall of 2014 into a densely filled hall of columns. The installation also engaged with the architecture of the Neue Nationalgalerie and served as a prologue to the renovation of the museum in line with the guidelines of landmark conservation, which has been underway under the direction of David Chipperfield Architects since the start of 2015.
