The New York-based artists Mary Heilmann (b. in San Francisco in 1940) and David Reed (b. in San Diego in 1946) showed their works in dialogue with one another in Two by Two, a 2015 exhibition conceived especially for Hamburger Bahnhof – Museum für Gegenwart – Berlin. In this exhibition, they presented around 40 paintings and installations created since the 1970s.
